ART-DECO CINEMA
This project transforms a hidden courtyard behind a Grade II listed Art Deco cinema into a serene Secret Garden.
Drawing inspiration from overgrown woodland landscapes, the design introduces a grove of Staphylea species (Bladdernuts), appearing to push through the existing Yorkstone paving. Beneath their canopies, a rich tapestry of woodland planting will gradually fill the space, creating an intimate and immersive garden for visitors.
Inspired by the cinema's historic architecture, handcrafted terracotta wall tiles form focal points throughout the garden, providing a contemporary interpretation of the building's heritage while adding warmth and texture to the space.
